Lightning Hazard and its Elimination in Shaanxi——Beijing Gas Transmission Pipeline

  • The hazard of lightning to pipeline and CP stations in Shaanxi——Beijing gas transmission pipeline is introduced. In the paper, a countermeasure against the lightning hazard has been taken, that is, the protection device, consisting of a first lightning eliminating device, called lightning surge eliminating arrester, and second drainage channel, called PN-joint positive potential drop drainage channel, has been used along the pipeline. The actual operating result has shown that this protection device can effectively prevent the pipeline and CP devices from lightning hazard.
