Risk-based Inspection and Assessment of Pipeline

  • For the most of old pipelines at present in China, the problems in ageing. corrosion and accident are in existence, which throws an obstacle to the safe operation of oil and/or gas pipelines. To solve these problems, the inspection and assessment of pipeline is urgently need. Therefore, a method of risk-based inspection and assessment of pipeline (RBI) has been presented so as to avoid the blindness, disorder, high investment and low accuracy in pipeline inspection. The comparison and analysis on the status quo and the latest development of foreign and domestic pipeline NDT technology have been done. In the paper, the consititution of relevent standards or codes for pipeline inspection at home and abroad is introduced, the assessment method on inspection results of pipeline and current key point in research as well as development tendency of RBI technology for pipeline are put forward.
