Some Technological Issues Concerned on the Engineering of the Western Natural Gas to the East

  • By analyzing the relation between minimum economic throughput rate or economic transportation distance with transportation price for the Western Natural Gas Transmission Pipelines, two methods to decrease transportation price have been put forward. The design and application on pipe wall thickness, diameter, steel grade as well as transfer pressure for oil/gas pipeline at abroad are introduced. Inter alia, a suggestion on selecting steel grade for line pipe has been especially presented. The author considers that for the construction of underground natural gas storage, an important component part of the gas pipeline, should be taken into account in the initial design phase of the pipelines. In addition, the selection of internal/external coating, specification and type of pipe, application of flash butt welding technology, influence of active fault to the pipelines are described and suggested.
