Abstract:
The yielding behavior of gelled waxy crude oil has an important influence on the start-up of gelled crude oil pipeline. The yielding behavior of Xinjiang crude oil was studied by means of stress-controlled rheometer (RS75). The experiment results display that the gelled crude oil is visco-elastic material. When shear strain γ is less than critical linear strain γ
cl of gelled crude oil, the gelled crude oil behaves as linear visco-elastic solid. When 7 is larger than γ
cl and less than critical yielding strain γ
cy, it displays non-linear visco-elasticity. When γ is larger than γ
cy, the gelled crude oil really flows. So the criterion ascertaining gelled crude oil flow is γ
cy, and not its yielding value. But the yielding value is closely related to the construct properties of gelled crude oil.
