Abstract:
Pipeline transport, thanks to its advantages such as high efficiency technical reliability, simple operation, less investment, low transport cost and no serious pollution, has become a new way of transportation competing with the traditional. In designing long slurry pipeine system, the quite important thing under consideration is the right calculation of the friction loss of pipeline, which directly concerned with such key problems as the selection and dispostion of pumpsand pump stations, determination of the pipeline wall thickness and consumption of energyand steel. For most industrial applied slurry pipelines, the distribution of carried matter grain size is within a certain range. At present, however, the major methods to calculate the friction loss are all based on the experimental data on a narrow grain size range of matter. In order to make the present friction loss calculation method adaptable to that of multi-grain sized matter transportation, the article presepts a better method than the WASP on the basis of experimental data and gives out the coefficient value. This new developed method leads to a satisfying predictive result, making up to the agreement between the value calculated and that obtained through actural measurement.
