Abstract: The article fills us in the general situation of mechanical construction of pipelines both at home and abroad, and makes a comprehensive comparjson in such aspects as construction equipment, personel, progress, weld quality and the malpractices prevailing long over pipeline construction such as empty talk, dilatory decision, rash design, rush construction and deliberate commissioning on the first day of a month. Some ideas are put forward as to improving our work in the way of technical standards, pipeline operating pressure, reorganization of administration, weld technique, anti-corrosive technique, equipment management and quality inspection, which is of instructive significance in our effort to bring our pipeline construction quality up to the world advanced level.
