Abstract:
Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe(RTP) joints are important connecting devices and the weak parts of flexible pipes. Their reasonable design is of great significance to ensure the safety of oil and gas development. Hence, a new type of cone RTP joints was designed according to the RTP connection requirements, and the structural strength and sealing were analyzed using ABAQUS. The analysis shows that the stress applied to various parts of RTP joints is distributed in a relatively uniform way, there is no stress concentration on the RTP body, and the angle of cone gasket is the key to the structural design of pipe joints. The connection performance of pipe joints can be adjusted by the axial displacement of the cone sleeve. In addition, the RTP joints were verified by the gas tightness test and burst test to meet the structural strength and sealing performance requirements for RTP connection. Generally, the research results could provide reference for the design optimization, manufacturing and installation of RTP joints.
