Abstract: The LNG tanker, as the important means for transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG), can provide great support to mitigate the gas supply shortage and guarantee the stable supply. Currently, the safety risk of LNG tankers increases with their increasing traffic volume. In order to effectively manage and control the risk of tanker loading, transportation and unloading, research was conducted on the risk management and control of LNG tankers, the types and the prevention and control measures of LNG tanker risks were summarized. Proposal was put forward to establish a safety management system of LNG tanker based on the whole process risk management and control, and the system was actually applied in the management of LNG tankers with good results obtained, promoting the safe and stable development of LNG marketing business and resulting in good social, environmental and economic benefits.
