Abstract:
The Irrawaddy River crossing is one of the control projects of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline in itsconstruction period. In this project, directional drilling is adopted to cross the main river and the branch river respectively, and direct burial is used to run through the river island. As standardized treatment has not implemented on both sides ofthe Irrawaddy River, the river channel is constantly swinging, and consequently the river bank where the pipeline crossesthe excavation point collapses constantly, and the pipeline is at risk of exposing to the surface. In order to ensure the safeoperation of the pipeline, an economically feasible temporary treatment plan was formulated after conducting on-the-spotinvestigation and analysis, i.e., the permeable spur dike group of timber pile & stone cage + the bank protection systemof timber pile & stone cage. The on-site implementation shows that this treatment plan can withstand the test of the floodseason and achieve better protection effects, and it can provide reference for the treatment of similar projects in thefuture.
