Abstract: As China has been increasingly strengthening the supervision on the safe operation of long-distance oil & gas pipelines, it is urgent for pipeline transportation enterprises to introduce new technologies to strengthen the pipeline patrol.The safety threats can be identified and tracked automatically by introducing the intelligent video patrol and surveillance technology into the routine patrol management of long-distance oil and gas pipelines.In this way, the patrol management is converted into the mobile and intelligent pattern.In this paper, the principle of intelligent video surveillance and the development status of related technologies were introduced.Then, application study and prospect were carried out on the construction of intelligent video patrol and surveillance system for long-distance oil and gas pipelines.The research results provide the reference for the construction and implementation of intelligent video patrol and surveillance system for longdistance oil and gas pipelines.
