Abstract:
For the side slopes of the Huangshui River along the Sebei-Xi'ning-Lanzhou Parallel Gas Transmission Pipeline (AK184), which are mainly steep slopes, riprap bank revetments were proposed in the original harnessing program. However, due to erosion of the original route by precipitation, original program could no longer satisfy relevant requirements for slope protection around the area. Drawbacks of the original program are identified in three aspects and corresponding countermeasures are proposed, i.e., ①constructing of a secondary brick retaining wall, ②deploying more rocks to reduce the slope ratio of the bank revetment, and ③using gabion bank revetments in upstream and downstream of the riprap revetment to generate a miniature gabion "T" dam to deflect flow. In addition to reducing construction difficulties and satisfing requirements for conservation of soil and water, the new program also protects local roads.
