Abstract:
In pump station, static electricity may threaten the routine transportation and storage of crude oil. In this paper, based on the source of static electricity, the electrostatic mechanism is analyzed from the aspects of storage and transportation equipment, flow regime of crude oil, thunder or cloudy days, workers and others. The following protection measures are proposed: (1) anti-static device should be installed on the instruments and electrical equipment; (2) it is necessary to avoid mixing of crude oil with water or air and the crude oil flow rate should agree with the pipeline diameter to prevent big changes in flow regime; (3) under the weather of thunderstorm, the grounding devices/measures should be detected and lightning rod should be installed; (4) oil tanks should be checked for leakage and maintained immediately, and underground oil tank and pipeline should be established; (5) for metal pipelines and oil tanks, standard grounding measures should be taken; and (6) workers at the pump station should strictly observe the anti-static rules and regulations to minimize the threaten of artificial electricity and the anti-static measures at all sectors should be perfected to ensure the safe operation of the station.
