Abstract:
As oil and gas pipelines have suffered more and more serious AC interference, relevant mitigation technology should be developed and applied effectively. AC interference occurs in 3 mechanisms, i.e. inductive coupling, impedance coupling and capacitive coupling, and may lead to 3 kinds of hazards, i.e. pipeline corrosion, personal injury and pipeline damage. This paper gives different mitigation schemes depending on the forms of hazards, and points that the numerical simulation can be used in the engineering practice to optimize AC interference mitigation system and the AC interference in pipeline operation should be firmly monitored. It also suggests that AC interference mitigation rules be established and revised and the numerical simulation and monitoring technologies for AC interference be promoted, so as to realize full-scale control of AC interference and thereby ensure the long-term safe operation of oil and gas pipelines.
