Abstract:
The provisions on fire protection systems at tankfarm are compared between old and new versions of the Code for Design of Tankfarm in this paper. Especially, through the comparative analysis of the changes in the section of fire demand calculation, the trends of the design and construction of the fire protection system are elaborated. Typical case studies are made, indicating the significance and realistic effects of movable fire demand added in the new version in contrast to the old version. Some defects of fire-fighting system construction and measures in China are analyzed, such as disorderly utilization of fire water, and insufficient fire protection systems at tankfarm. Finally, practicable construction programs of the system and proper fire responses at tankfarm are proposed to optimally extinguish any fire at early stage at tankfarm, so as to minimize the losses thereof.
