Abstract:
An oil/gas station along a long-distance pipeline often includes process area and ancillary area. Being the main part, the process area is further divided into tankfarm, open plant zone and shed plant zone. In this area, extinguishers are configured in a number subject to applicable regulations. The coverage area is calculated respectively by (1) taking the footprint area of tankfarm, open plant zone or shed plant zone as computing unit and (2) obtaining a computing unit after taking into account a parameter reduction factor for the deployment of the hydrant and fire-extinguishing systems. Rechecking is made on protection distance of extinguishers configured according to the coverage area derived from above two computing units. The results show that the coverage area with a computing unit that meets the requirement of protection distance can be considered as the area for configuring extinguishers. This kind of configuration is more correspondent with actual needs and extremely referential for killing any initial fire.
