Abstract:
CO
2 pipelining will present different phases under different temperature and pressure of pipeline, which makes CO
2 pipelines quite different from oil and gas pipelines. From a CO
2 pipeline design point of view, this paper analyzes relevant techniques of CO
2 pipeline system, including physical properties and phase of CO
2 flow, pipeline hydraulic and thermal calculations, process system of the stations and the equipment selected, and so on. It is concluded from this study that phase control is an important part of the design of CO
2 pipelines; the process system of pump stations for CO
2 pipeline should incorporate dehydration process according to the water content of CO
2, and the dehydration process and CO
2 compression process should be combined to form a system; the transportation devices of CO
2 pipeline, such as compressors, delivery pumps, dehydration units and venting systems, have its particularities, and should be selected and designed according to the characteristics of CO
2 pipelines. The conclusions can provide a reference for the design and construction of long-distance CO
2 pipelines.
