Abstract:
Along inside pipeline section of Myanmar-China Oil and Gas Pipeline, there is a continuous long-distance sandliquefaction zone. Sand liquefaction is one of the main causes that lead to the devastation of underground pipelines byearthquake. To enhance pipeline resistance to soil liquefaction, this paper analyzes sand liquefaction phenomenon and itsharm, and then introduces the saddle sacks for securing the underground pipeline that may be exposed to moderate or severesand liquefaction, considering the sand liquefaction features along the pipeline. The treatment is economic, environmentalfriendly, easy to implement, and do not affect the installation and overall duration of the pipeline. Moreover, it is of greatsignificance for avoiding and mitigating earthquake disasters and ensuring the safe operation of the pipeline. The treatmentcan be widely applied to similar pipelines.
