Abstract:
In order to accurately assess the residual metal wall thickness of parallel or overlapping buried pipelines, a transmitting coil array that may be used in transient electromagnetic systems is designed. The array has the magnetic focusing characteristics and can provide a guarantee for accurate detection of residual thickness of parallel or overlapping buried metal pipelines. A CST electromagnetic workroom for modeling and simulation is used, and 87.25% of the magnetic field energy of this transmitting coil is concentrated in the target area with a radius of about 0.25 m compared with single transmitting circuit, with 53.5% increase in magnetic field strength, and physical processing and testing are carried out. Results show that after the coil array is energized, it has good focusing properties in the target area, and could be used in the accurate detection of the residual wall thickness of buried metal pipeline in parallel or overlapped arrangement.
