Abstract:
Taku-Yakela pipeline is the crude oil pipeline between Taku and Yakela to bear the output of heavy crude oil from Taku. Annual output of the Taku-Yakela Pipeline needs a 15% increase based on actual running target, so it is requited to inject DRA for the increase. Due to high velocity of heavy crude oil, pipe flow follows a lower Reynolds number. It is required to appropriately improve pipeline operating temperature in order to reach a Reynolds number of more than 10 000, thus providing conditions for DRA to express its function. DRA needs some time for distribution in the oil flow, so it is difficult for them to play a drag reduction in the whole process. Oil with DRA added only take the time of less than 6 hours to flow through the whole Taku-Yakela Pipeline, but the Pipeline section of less than 1/3 can follow the drag reduction. Therefore, an additive operation program shall be set up in full consideration of DRA's dispersibility.
