Abstract:
Carbon capture and storage as an important method to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has become a global research hotspot, while the pipeline transportation is critical to implement the technology. When CO
2 is in a supercritical or dense phase state, it will be subject to liquid density as well as gas viscosity and compressibility, thus facilitating the pipeline transportation most effectively. Due to special properties of pipelined CO
2, CO
2 pipeline are different from hydrocarbon pipeline. Because of complexity of the marine environment, CO
2 offshore pipeline are different from land pipeline. This paper systematically summarizes key technical issues to be solved for CO
2 pipeline transportation, focuses on the description of research progress in the flow assurance and ductile fracture extension of CO
2 pipeline, and indicates that it is pressing to carry out the foundation research on the CCS as an important method to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
