Abstract:
Effective bonding between carbon fiber/epoxy resin matrix composite protection layer and polyethylene layer is achieved with self-made polyethylene adhesive enhancer brushed on the 3PE layer. Experimental results show that the polyethylene adhesive enhancer brushed on the 3PE layer can effectively improve bonding condition between epoxy resin and polyethylene layer, and the room temperature shear strength of epoxy resin on the polyethylene layer increases from 1.73 MPa to 3.02 MPa and peel strength improves from 2.4 N/cm to 100.6 N/cm. Performance of the whole protection system is tested through bending, impact and scratch resistance tests. The results indicate that effective bonding forms between the composite material and polyethylene layer with good flexibility and impact resistance and can bear a scratch resistance test up to a 130-kg load.
