Abstract:
The problems existing in the integrity management of oil and gas pipelines in China in the following aspects are analyzed. Firstly, the current technology demands may be ahead of the development in the pipeline itself, especially lack of the key technical reserves in operation and maintenance of high-strength steel pipeline, detection and evaluation of welding defects, running and maintenance of pipelines located in frozen areas, leakage monitoring and warning, secondly, the gaps in the engineering standards and important technical indexes in welding standards, geological disaster protection standards and the standards in systematic data acquisition of pipelines and acceptance accuracy, which seriously influence the intrinsic safety of the pipelines, and finally, professional engineers suffer from a lack systematic recognition for the discipline in which they are engaged, and they often cannot truly implement the integrity management philosophy. Based on the analysis results, future development strategies in management of pipelines in three aspects are discussed accordingly. Firstly, carrying out a systematic research for the reserves to ensure the supporting technologies necessary for intrinsic safety of the pipeline, secondly, improving the standard level of the whole industry, and finally promoting the professional development of practitioners to help the development of pipeline integrity management technology and related businesses.
