Abstract: The hazard of leakage of pump packing seal is described from explosion, products toxicity and economy based on theory and calculation and the failure cause of packing seal is analyzed. Analytical results show that clearance in sealing position and high pressure in sealing position induced by flowing liquid are the major causes. The author provides some methods to eliminate the leakage of pump packing seal.
