Abstract: Utility function is put forward for assessing the pipeline failure sequent in order to optimize the decision-making of the pipeline integrity maintenance.Firstly, the utility function signification is explained.In succession, the decision-marking tree of pipeline integrity maintenance is erected and the measures and steps of how to confine and constitute utility function are set forth.Finally, some issues about utility function are emphasized.
